Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is of the opinion that the club will be able to win the league title with Alex Sanchez fully fit for next season.

The former Barcelona man moved to the Emirates stadium in a £ 35 million deal, which is fast looking like a bargain. He scored 16 goals in 35 league matches last season. More importantly, Henry reckons that Sanchez provides the X factor that Arsenal have missed for a long time. The gunners have not challenged for the league title in more than a decade, but the club are close to strengthening the team in this transfer window once again.

Arsenal are expected to complete the transfer of Petr Cech from Chelsea. The 33-year-old will go straight into the first-team and replace Wojciech Szczesny, who has been unreliable in goal. A multiple winner with Chelsea, Cech will not just provide the experience of handling pressure but also he will have the quality to deal with opponents. The 33-year-old is expected to cost around £ 11 million and he will be able to deal with Arsenal’s goalkeeping situation effectively for at least the next five years. Arsenal booked their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after a 2-0 win over giantkillers Middlesbrough.

The Championship outfit had beaten Manchester City in the previous round and they were spoken about beating yet another top team in the last 16 round. As it was, Arsenal managed a comfortable victory that puts them against Manchester United in the quarter-finals. The club have missed striker Oliver Giroud for much of the first half of the season. The Frenchman showed his importance to the team after scoring two goals in the space of two minutes to put Arsenal on the path to a 2-0 win.

Giroud opened the scoring in the 27th minute and later extended Arsenal’s advantage just two minutes after this goal. Wenger says that even though the club have several strikers like Danny Welbeck on-board, he feels that Giroud is the number one hit man. The former Montpelier striker was a revelation last season after scoring 16 goals in 36 appearances last season. Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker says that he wants the club to sign German international Sami Khedira either in January or in the summer.

The Real Madrid star is widely expected to leave the Spanish club after the end of this season. He is free to negotiate terms with foreign clubs from January, as his contract expires in the summer. A number of clubs have been queuing up to sign the player. The 27-year-old provides immense quality and experience, while the fact that he will not cost anything has made him even more attractive.

A number of clubs like Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Manchester United are looking to sign the player. Arsenal will have to fight off these competition in order to get Khedira, but they also have the advantage of having a few Germans the team. Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil, and Lukas Podolski are some of the German names currently playing for Arsenal. This could swing the advantage in favour of the gunners and Mertesacker has already begun talking about Khedira coming to Arsenal. He says that he is very much in favour of more quality German players coming to the club. The prospects of Khedira leaving Real Madrid in January have been blown away by the latest injury to Luka Modric.

The Croatian midfielder will miss up to 3 months of action and Khedira is likely to replace him.“I’m up for more quality Germans to [join] the club. Ozil and I spoke with Khedira a few times to join Arsenal. His contract is up next summer,” said Mertesacker. Wenger has suggested that he is unlikely to sign any high profile players in January even though the club has been going through a mini crisis in terms of players.
