Arsenal looking at double transfer

Arsenal are looking to sign Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldi as part of a double transfer deals for the club. The Gunners have been without a sporting director since the exit of Sven Mlinstat in February and are looking to appoint former Sevilla director Monchi for the position.

Monchi is considered as one of the best spotters of talent in European football and enjoyed a 17-year spell at Sevilla where he was able to build the club through screwed purchases.  The Spaniard was able to spot talents like Dani Alves, Seydou Keita and Ivan Rakitic before selling the players for big transfer fees.

However, his move to Roma was mixed as despite identifying signings like Alisson the Italian club were unable to harness the signings. He left Roma after the sacking of coach Eusebio Di Francesco in March and is currently out of work.

Arsenal are huge favourites to sign him and he has a good working relationship with Unai Emery as they both worked together during his time at Sevilla. Spanish tabloid Sport claims that the Gunners have already made contact with Monchi.

It is understood that Monchi would attempt to sign Benfica ace Grimaldi when he becomes the sporting director at the club. Grimaldi is highly rated in Portugal and viewed as a new breed of left back with his ability to defend and create attacks.

Arsenal are looking to strengthen in key areas in the summer and the left back position is an area of concern for Unai Emery. Nacho Monreal is expected to leave the club in the summer leaving SaedKolasinac as the only senior left-back in the club.

Grimaldi is viewed as an affordable option in that position as the 23-year-old is reportedly valued by Benfica at around £30million. It would be interesting to see how this one pans out in the coming weeks.
