EMERY STILL HAS OZIL IN HIS PLANS

Arsenal manager Unai Emery continue to insists that playmaker Mesut Ozil remains in his plans despite the German not featuring in the last five games for the club. The 30-year old has been linked with a move away from the club this transfer winter window with several clubs interested.

Ozil’s commitment and work rate were criticized in his final days in the German national team shirt. This has been the case in his recent Arsenal performances but Emery says he would still hold on to the playmaker.

The player’s agent had recently said Ozil would not leave the emirates Stadium anytime soon. However, the former Real Madrid man has racked up only 155 minutes of action since Arsenal’s draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers in early November.

The player signed a new contract a year ago and is expected to help the Gunners to a Top Four finish this term. While there haven’t been strong moves to lure the player from the north London club, there is just a general feeling that the Premier League side might lose the player soon.

If Ozil returns to the setup, some players would definitely lose their roles despite doing well. Matteo Guendouziand set-to-exit Aaron Ramsey would have their chances limited in the midfield.

With the FA Cup clash against the in-form Manchester United on Friday, Ozil could get a starting role as the Gunners push for a possible final clash with Manchester City if things go their way.

The coach has said the club can only sign players on loan deals due to their financial position. This would mean allowing players like Ozil leave a big minus as he is one of the most talented midfielders in the game. However, if a big offer comes, the management can allow the player exit and rebuild with the funds.
