SANTI CAZORLA, JACK WILSHERE AND PETR CECH RETURN TO BOOST ARSENAL

Three injured Arsenal first team players that consist of creative midfielder Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere and goal keeper, Petr Cech are set to return to boost The Gunners strength as they make the last push this season. The injuries came at a very important period for the team, adding to the woes of Arsene Wenger.

The team is now out of the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup, with the League Cup already lifted by Manchester City this season. The English Premier League has also slipped out of their reach with first-placed Leicester City leading Arsenal with 11 points. Arsenal is still trying to win the EPL since 2004 when they won it last.

David Ospina has been decent in cover for Petr Cech since his month-long injury. Ospina was in goal when Arsenal replayed the fifth round against Hull in the FA cup. He also was in goal when they Arsenal had a face-off with West Brom in the premier league. In the game against Barcelona, Everton, Tottenham and Watford, David Ospina tool charge of the goal post.

Cazorla has been on the sidelines due to an Achilles tendon injury while Jack Wilsere suffered from a calf and shin injury that has left him out of Arsenal season-long. (more…)

Jack Rodwell is optimistic after scoring against Exeter City

Jack Rodwell played for Sunderland’s League Cup match against Exeter City and the 24 year old English midfielder scored twice and provided 2 assists as he was one of the standout players and helped Sunderland in clinching a convincing 6-3 triumph.

The player who cost Sunderland €10 million back in August of 2014 is hoping that he will continue to score goals, help out his team and perform like he did against Exeter City for the rest of the season.

Sunderland’s Jack Rodwell said: “I haven’t scored as many goals as I would have wanted to for Sunderland, that’s fair. I feel like there have been times when I’ve got into the right position, but for some reason the ball hasn’t quite fallen for me like it did on Tuesday night’’

“I could probably have had a couple more against Exeter, so hopefully that’s a sign of things to come. I’ll keep working hard and trying to get more goals every season. I played well against Swansea City, and felt a bit leggy against Exeter’’

Scoring more goals is what Jack Rodwell wants to do and it’s what he is hoping to accomplish. Sunderland is currently positioned at the bottom of the Premier League as they have only managed to collect 2 points from the opening 4 matches of the season. (more…)

Thierry Henry is of the opinion that the club will be able to win the league title

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is of the opinion that the club will be able to win the league title with Alex Sanchez fully fit for next season.

The former Barcelona man moved to the Emirates stadium in a £ 35 million deal, which is fast looking like a bargain. He scored 16 goals in 35 league matches last season. More importantly, Henry reckons that Sanchez provides the X factor that Arsenal have missed for a long time. The gunners have not challenged for the league title in more than a decade, but the club are close to strengthening the team in this transfer window once again.

Arsenal are expected to complete the transfer of Petr Cech from Chelsea. The 33-year-old will go straight into the first-team and replace Wojciech Szczesny, who has been unreliable in goal. A multiple winner with Chelsea, Cech will not just provide the experience of handling pressure but also he will have the quality to deal with opponents. The 33-year-old is expected to cost around £ 11 million and he will be able to deal with Arsenal’s goalkeeping situation effectively for at least the next five years. Henry reckons that one can expect more from Sanchez next season, as he will be now used to the Premier League. (more…)

Arsenal booked their place in the quarter-finals

Arsenal booked their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after a 2-0 win over giantkillers Middlesbrough.

The Championship outfit had beaten Manchester City in the previous round and they were spoken about beating yet another top team in the last 16 round. As it was, Arsenal managed a comfortable victory that puts them against Manchester United in the quarter-finals. The club have missed striker Oliver Giroud for much of the first half of the season. The Frenchman showed his importance to the team after scoring two goals in the space of two minutes to put Arsenal on the path to a 2-0 win.

Giroud opened the scoring in the 27th minute and later extended Arsenal’s advantage just two minutes after this goal. Wenger says that even though the club have several strikers like Danny Welbeck on-board, he feels that Giroud is the number one hit man. The former Montpelier striker was a revelation last season after scoring 16 goals in 36 appearances last season. This time around, his goal return has been even better with seven goals from just nine starts. His impact has been more profound in bigger matches like that of against Manchester City. (more…)
